Who do you say I am?

Jesus once asked this question of his closest followers: "Who do people say I am?" At that time, Jesus was at the height of his popularity and fame. He healed all who came to him, even those who were born blind, were paralysed, or possessed by evil spirits. He raised several dead persons back to life. He gave new life to people who had ruined theirs by their own bad choices. When Jesus asked his followers, "Who do people say I am?" they replied that many thought he was Elijah, Jeremiah, or John the Baptist returned from dead. Then Jesus got right to the heart of matter. "But what about you? Who do you say I am?" Jesus wanted to know what they, who knew him best, thought about him. Peter replied, "You are the Christ." It suddenly came to Peter that Jesus is the promised Messiah, the Saviour they as Jews had been waiting centuries for. Jesus accepted this answer. Jesus is the Messiah. Jesus is the Messiah of all people. What about you? Who do you say he is? (Image: https://images.app.goo.gl/uhrQC1sEv9wDmr3z5 Courtesy of Otto Semler CC-BY-SA 2.0)
